The Birthday Boy

For those that didn't know, Mr. Simon turned 28 this past weekend. It all started Friday with our trip to the park followed by Saturday's Opening-of-the-Presents! Thanks Mom...Oscar Wilde, my favorite. Nana, the brownies are half gone.

On Saturday, the big birthday day, we went to our small group at Patrick and Cheryl's where Ryan got to blow out the candles on his birthday quiche. If you want the recipe go to Food Network compliments of Paula Deen (http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/recipes/recipe/0,,FOOD_9936_31202,00.html)
I've recently taken a liking to making quiche as they're soooo easy to make and you can be very creative with the filling. This one's great!

Then, after a great afternoon of chillaxing around the house, Ryan and I headed out for our dinner and show reservations at Monkey Town in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. If you're not familiar with the NYC area, Williamsburg is an up-and-coming hipster area with all sorts of shwank 20-something bars and Brownstones. We weren't sure what to expect, but based on the website (http://www.monkeytownhq.com/monkeytownhome.html) I knew it would probably be really out there and something Ryan would totally dig. But, the craziness ensued when we tried getting there. Theoretically, it should only take 30 minutes to get to Williamsburg from the Upper West Side by means of public transportation. However, when we got to 8th ave off the B line, we found out that the L train was not running between 8th and Union Square...but we needed the L to get to Brooklyn and I was in heels! Well, we hoofed it from 8th to 4th Ave...no small hike...and ended up being a bit late for the show reservations. Thus the appropriateness in our minds of the picture below. We appologize for the profanity, but high heels, all dressed up and late for dinner reservations makes one a bit frustrated with the MTA. Needless to say, we loved our experience at Monkey Town! Interesting show, fantastic (and I can't say it enought) fantastic food, and pretty good prices.

On the way home, when we could jaunt from 4th Ave back to 8th in a more leisurley pace, we walked past Mecca, otherwise known as Forever 21. Mom, Erin, hang in there just a few more weeks...we shall reach our beloved discount clothier soon! The picture's not that good, but it gives you a small glimpse into how huge this store is!
