Have we got some recipes for you!!!

It's been a pretty quiet week in Queens for us. No major events, but we've tried some pretty fun recipes. Here's the week in food review:

Monday
Southwestern Hash - http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/recipes/recipe/0,,FOOD_9936_37145,00.html?rsrc=search
Was good enough. Really hearty, but could have used something to make it a bit more savory and smooth. Ryan and I would suggest using a can of green chilies for the sauce, or even perhaps some enchilada sauce...salsa verde maybe?...we just wanted it to be a bit spicier or more saucy.

Wednesday
Morrocan style Tilapia with cumin, mango and cilantro - http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/recipes/recipe/0,,FOOD_9936_34578,00.html?rsrc=search
Very fantastic! Make sure, though, to dice the mango very small. I made it a bit too chunky and would have prefered a smaller dice. But, the flavors were great and this was a good, clean, recipe.
also made:
Chunky White Bean Avocado Dip - http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/recipes/recipe/0,,FOOD_9936_34575,00.html?rsrc=search
Middle of the road in my opinion...I would suggest a more traditional guac recipe (this is my absolue fave...made many times : http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/235324) if you're doing any sort of avovcado dip, but this was different and more cost effective because of the use of white beans. Not bad at all and would pass for an east coast crowd any time.

Saturday
This evening's recipes were amaaaazing!!!!
Roasted Red Deviled Potatoes - http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/231196
Deliciosa!!! Soooo good. Just as long as you properly roast the potatoes, the mustard butter sauce is delectable...would mos def do again

Panfried Flank Steak with Mushroom Ragout - http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/237203
Insanely good!!!
However, I did alter it a bit by adding some white wine to the ragout to aide in the reduction process. Also, as we prefer, we did the steak rare, and it was incredible. One note also, we could not find flank steak and made it with top sirloin. This did not seem to compromise the recipe and we loved it.
